Who are TKAT?
TKAT (The Kemnal Academies Trust) is one of the largest Multi-Academy Trusts in the South of England with over 40 Primary and Secondary Academies in the TKAT Family.
Our ultimate aim is to ensure we drive educational standards through the provision of outstanding teaching, leadership and learning for all.
We believe it is important for Academies to retain and promote their individual identity and we endorse earned autonomy across the Trust.
Our leaders focus on pupil progress and attainment, and regularly share knowledge, insight and experience. We believe passionately in the power of collaborative working and actively promote school-to-school support.
Our pupils are at the heart of everything we do and we strive to inspire learners and change lives as a result our exceptional educational provision.

THE TKAT ETHOS
The key objective of TKAT is to ensure that the life chances of all pupils in our Academies are significantly improved as a result of our educational provision. TKAT is committed to providing outstanding teaching and learning to enable all pupils to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century.

THE TKAT VALUES
TKAT is a multi-academy trust which was established on 1st September 2010. Its constitution is set out in the Articles of Association and this is shared with individual academies via the Scheme of Delegation. TKAT have, through the Scheme of Delegation, established Local Governing Bodies for each of the Academies.
The Members: The Members protect the Charitable and Educational objectives, including the Ethos of the Trust. They take part in annual and extraordinary general meetings and appoint the Directors to the TKAT Board.
The TKAT Members are: John Atkins CBE, Raymond Vooght, Daniel Barber, The Diocese of Canterbury Academies Company Limited represented by Quentin Roper.
The Board: The legal powers and responsibilities of Trust are held with the TKAT Board who are accountable to the Department for Education.
As a group, the Board set the overall strategic direction of the Trust. They scrutinise, challenge and support our educational and operational performance data, stability, and emerging risks/opportunities.
Accordingly, the Board delegate certain powers and duties to our Local Governing Bodies. This delegation is explained in our Scheme of Delegation (SoD).
Over the last eighteen months, we have seen some big changes to our Board making it stronger and more effective than ever. We now have a healthy balance of corporate and educational professionals who are each able to bring different perspectives and ideas to the table.

Remuneration and Nomination Committee
The Remuneration Committee is a sub-committee of the TKAT Board. The Board has established the Committee to support it in its responsibilities for ensuring the highest standards of corporate governance in the remuneration and succession planning of the Chief Executive (CEO) and Senior Managers of TKAT. Meetings are held at least annually (usually in September) or more frequently as circumstances require. For Terms of Reference please click here.

Audit and Risk Committee
The Audit and Risk Management Committee is a sub-Committee of the Board of TKAT. The Audit and Risk Committee meet at least four times a year. The Board has established the Committee to support it in the discharge of its responsibilities for issues of risk, control and governance. For Terms of Reference please click here.

High Risk Challenge Sub Committee
The High Risk Challenge Committee is a sub-Committee of the Board of TKAT. Meetings are held at regular intervals at least six times a year. The Board has established the Committee to support it in the discharge of its responsibilities to provide a high standard of education to every student in its academies. Local Governing Body:
The Local Governing Body of each of the Academies is responsible for fulfilling the strategic and operational governance role in the conduct of the Academy.
