British Values
At Napier Primary Academy, we are committed to promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. These values are an integral part of our curriculum and are actively reinforced throughout our school community.
-
Democracy: We encourage students to have a voice through our School Council and other pupil-led initiatives, teaching them the importance of participation in decision-making and respecting the views of others.
-
The Rule of Law: We ensure that students understand the value of laws, whether they govern the class, the school, or the country. Pupils are taught the reasons behind laws, the consequences of breaking them, and the role they play in maintaining a fair and safe society.
-
Individual Liberty: Within a safe and supportive environment, we foster a culture where children are encouraged to make informed choices, express their opinions, and take responsibility for their actions, while understanding their rights and personal freedoms.
-
Mutual Respect: Respect is at the core of our school ethos. We promote respect for others through our behaviour policy, teaching, and by encouraging positive relationships between all members of our school community.
-
Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs: We celebrate the diversity within our school and encourage pupils to be accepting of different cultures, faiths, and beliefs. Through our curriculum, we provide opportunities to learn about a variety of world religions and foster an understanding and appreciation of others.
By embedding these values in everything we do, we aim to prepare our students to become respectful, responsible, and active members of modern British society.
