Admissions Guidance

We warmly welcome applications to Napier Primary. Our admissions process is designed to be clear and straightforward, ensuring every child has a fair opportunity to join our school community.

How to Apply

  1. Check Application Dates: Applications for Reception places usually open in September and close in January.  Make sure to check the local authority's website for exact dates and deadlines:

  2. Complete an Application: All applications must be made through the Medway website. You can apply online or by submitting a paper form ( https://www.medway.gov.uk/info/200137/schools_and_learning/1059/applying_for_a_primary_school_place/3 )

  3. Admission Criteria: Places are allocated according to the local authority's admissions criteria. This typically includes:

    • Children in care or previously in care

    • Siblings of children already attending the school

    • Proximity to the school

    • Special educational needs

Please check the full admissions policy for more details.

  4. Offer of Places: Parents will be informed of their child’s school place on National Offer Day, which is usually in April. You will need to accept the offer by the deadline stated in the letter.

Appeals Process

If your child is not allocated a place, you have the right to appeal.

You can appeal for any school named on your application that has not been able to offer your child a place.

To do this you will need to complete an appeal request form. Details of where to return it to are on pages 5 to 6 of the form.

Download an appeal request form and information

The deadline for submitting an appeal is Wednesday 14 May 2025 for offers made on 16 April.

For late applications, appeal requests should be submitted within 20 school days of your application outcome.

You can appeal after these deadlines but your appeal might not be heard at the same time as those submitted on-time.

When you appeal you:

  • can only appeal for schools named on your application
  • can appeal for more than one school at the same time
  • must complete a request form for each school you're appealing for
  • can appeal for a school even if you have accepted another offer.

Schools will not know you have appealed for another school unless you tell them. The appeals for each school are completely independent of each other.

Further information on how to appeal can be found below.
