Speech and Language

During the children's first term at Napier, we assess all children on NELI which is a communication and language screening tool and Speech link which is a screening tool to assess children's speech sounds.

All children get assessed on both early on in the academic year so we are able to highlight the children who may need extra support with their speech and language to really thrive at school. Both screening tools are fun interactive games that the children complete with an adult and because they are short and fun games, the children don't know it is an assessment. If your child is highlighted for needing support with either their speech or language, we will complete the intervention with your child on a regular basis. We will let you know that your child is having extra support and will let you know what you can do at home to help too!
